Experience through CAMPH workshop in Yonsei University

One of the most meaningful experiences of this program was meeting with the friends with high interest of public health, and sharing enthusiasms toward it with them. It was really helpful to my motivation of study, as well as exciting, to learn and share the own interests with them.

Next, I would like to point out that through the whole program (including class lectures, onsite visits, and APACPH conference) I were able to learn the basic concept of public health, that is, how to figure out the problem of specific society, community, country, and how we could manage to make the situation better. I understood this process as the situations that what is good is completely clear but how to really do it is very complicated, which seemed to me especially interesting. In addition, the lectures by professors with various research fields (ex. public health, medical law, etc.) helped me to figure out what is regarded as good method in the social research in general, and what is regarded as hot topics in each area, which helped me to think of what I can learn from, and what I will be able to do in the future, in those research fields. For me, with high interest of psychiatry and social mental health, it means the problem of which methods I should take and which research questions I would suggest when I would do the research of global or social mental health, both of which is still uncovered and thus require the courage to be a pioneer. Although I haven’t decided my detailed career yet, I have been encouraged so much by the viewpoints provided by researchers and practitioners of those social studies regarding medicine, and I am sure that what I learned in this program will be helpful to my career, whether it would be researcher of this field or not, because it is certain that there are always what is called social problems in medical field (including hospitals, and laboratories), and the most important thing is to appreciate them as social, not personal (ex. psychological or biological).

Feedback and Enhancement of the program and schedule

Overall, it was clear that all the members in charge of this program took best efforts toward it. I am so thankful to all because of that, especially considering it was the first trial of CAMPH workshop. However, it would be better if the registration process would be clearer and less complicated, because for me it seems that some of the information about this program should be more helpful if provided to the participants (or possible participants) in advance (especially about information of course overview, brief schedule of registration process, and background information about the course itself).
About the program contents and schedule, there is nothing but positive comments.
